Plan of Salvation

What does the Bible say about God and your eternal destiny?

The Bible reveals that God is the Creator of the whole universe (Genesis 1:1-2). He created Adam and Eve so that they along with their posterity might know God in a personal way. God is One and is eternally three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). God relates to us through His written Word, the Bible, and by His only begotten Son and our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through the Word of God and teaches us about the Lord Jesus. He has provided for a renewed and eternal relationship for fallen mankind with Himself through His eternal Son’s sin-bearing sacrifice at Calvary.

God loves the whole world-which includes you! No matter who we are or what we have done, God loves and cares for each one. He proved this by sending His only begotten Son into this sinful world to die for all sinners. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We know that we have thought wrong things and done wrong things. In fact, after speaking with many thousands of people on this subject through the years, I have never yet met the person who does not admit that there are things which are wrong inside of us and things which we have done that have gone against the absolutely holy God. God cannot allow any sin in His holy presence. Unless God Himself had come in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then died for our sins, we would have no way to go to heaven. The Bible says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one…Therefore by the deeds of the Law there shall no flesh be justified in His (God’s) sight: for by the Law is the knowledge of sin…For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God…For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 3:10, 20, 23; 6:23).

God came in the flesh in the Person of His Perfect and eternal Son to die for our sins. Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, lived a sinless life and became the perfect sin offering for the whole world. Jesus Christ is the Messiah promised in Jewish Bible (Tenach) and He alone qualified to be the true Lamb of God who was sacrificed on the Cross at Calvary for our sins. God’s Word says, “Being justified (accounted as righteous) freely by His grace through the redemption (purchased freedom) that is in Christ Jesus…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 3:24; 6:23).

We can do nothing to save ourselves; we are called by God to repent (turn) from our sin and accept God’s free gift by asking the Lord Jesus to live inside of our life. The full price for our sin was paid once-for-all by Jesus Christ. On the Cross, Jesus declared concerning His work of redeeming (saving) us that “It is finished” (John 19:30). The Bible says, “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved…But as many as received Him (Christ), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (Romans 10:9; John 1:12). The Bible says there is only ONE WAY to get to heaven and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ: Jesus said,”I am the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6). Based on the authority of the Word of God you can know for sure that when you die you are going Heaven. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God” (1 John 5:13). “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
